Our Team
Proxima was founded by Alex Mangum and Daniyal Hussain. Life partners and business partners, they share a passion for community building and, of course, their darling toddler, Gabriel.

Co-FounderAlex has an extensive background in media, entertainment, and community building. Her career started in content licensing at the New York Times in Paris. She has since gone on to produce branded video content for Peloton, Park Hyatt Hotels, YSL, Google and more. Most recently, Alex was COO at Atlas Obscura, a travel media company dedicated to sharing the world’s hidden wonders. She’s passionate about bringing people together to exchange ideas and forge meaningful connections.

Daniyal Hussain is a biotech, pharma, and healthcare strategist and business development executive. He currently works as at GSK in the technology business development organization. Previously he was Senior Director of Innovation at Valo Health, a technology company built to transform the drug discovery and development process using human-centric data and AI-powered computation. Valo Health is a portfolio company of Flagship Pioneering.
